Might Have Beens

“Of all the sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are I might have been”.

I read that quote as a high school student and it has always stuck in my brain…”Might have been, crap, I never want to “might have been”. I have had this vision of my unrealized dreams and goals visiting me as I lay on my death bed. They stood by my bed and said “Don’t you know we are going to die with you!”. Sobering when you think about it, “might have been”!

One of my dreams was to compete in sports after High School. Although, I have won championships as a Coach at the High School, College and Semi-Pro sports levels, I never competed in sports beyond high school. At the age of 55, that goal was certainly starting to look like a “might have been”! There is a quote by Cicero “While there’s life, there’s hope”, which means that while I am alive there is still hope and this goal doesn’t need to be a “might have been”. I have done “impossible things before, I broke a world record for the worlds longest speech, but this is different, competing against 20 year old’s in a college or semi pro game of football, that is…well, crazy!

So join me every couple days as I share my experiences on my two year journey, to play college football at the age of 57!  I will prove that all things are possible and attainable to those who believe! I will share the up, down, good, bad and all that comes with such a quest. From the physical training, to the mental effort and all the lessons that I learn along the way.

My hope is that it will inspire you to take a look at your life and see if there are any “might have been” that can be revived, pursued and realized.

Let’s take the journey together!
