The Leadership Intensive
For Those Who Aspire to be Outstanding Frontline Leaders!
For Those Who Aspire to be Outstanding Frontline Leaders!
The Leadership Intensive is an individualized, competency based, leadership development program. It is designed specifically for those who aspire to be outstanding Frontline leaders in the Recreation, Parks, Arts and Culture sector. It’s mission is to accelerate the development of Public Sector professionals, equipping them with the leadership approaches the times require!
The program meets participants where they are at and utilizes an innovative and proprietary behavioral change model that is based on “21 days to establish a habit”, and a blended learning approach.
The program will instill the 4 competencies of today’s effective leader, which are the approaches we believe the times require. They were developed through Ian Hill’s work with over 680 Public Sector Departments/Agencies across the United States, Canada and Australia, 168 Community based projects and his own 35 years of executive level leadership experience. The four competencies have been tried, proven and successful.

What sets this apart? A proprietary process for growth and behavior change!
To be effective, training and development must create performance improvement. Seminars, videos, training manuals, and other passive learning process just are not effective. We have designed a process that actually creates behavior change through an innovative learning model we call The Change Continuum. This proven process accelerates knowledge and skill acquisition. We use the “21 Day to Establish a Habit”, blended learning approach, combined with personalized coaching to “wrap around” participants and help move them to their leadership best. Which is significantly quicker then they would on their own!

Session 1 - Ignite the Fire
The “why we do” is the key to the “how we do” and the “results we get”. In this session, Ian will lay the ground work for the program by putting participant’s hearts and minds in the right place for growth. Attendees will review the program and its various tools, define roles and responsibilities, and establish their personal desired outcomes. Participates will also review the programs’ unique accountability mechanism which will support them in reaching their full potential. Attendees will leave with everything needed to get the maximum impact from the program and the inspiration to “ignite” the process of reaching their “leadership” best.
Session 2 - Agent of Change
Today’s leader knows how to change things by exerting credible influence by building trusting relationships. We are hungry for respected leaders who have the courage, passion, and motivation so that barriers can be addressed and overcome.
Participants will be able to:
Session 3 - Big Picture, Systems Thinking
The big picture or systems approach is essential because the issues in our country and our communities are too complicated to be solved by any one sector or silo. While they are examining that big picture, we would like them to pay attention to and apply some creative responses to the social, economic, environmental, and technology trends and issues that have the potential to impact our communities.
Capra said that for leaders to be effective today, they needed to shift their thinking “from parts to whole, from things to relationships, from structures to processes, from hierarchies to networks, from the rational to the intuitive, from analysis to creation”.
In this session, Ian will explore the importance of a proactive, system thinking/ holistic approach and how to establish it as a pillar of your leadership style.
Session 4 - Catalysts for Encouraging Responsibility and Ownership in Others
This session will focus on engaging and cultivating community ownership. While we want to see leaders who understand the need to facilitate change, we also want them to believe in the power and possibilities of individual contributions. We will discuss how to become a catalyst for responsibility, as well as, discussing how to motivate and create buy-in in others and how to use that buy-in to get things done.
